Seniorgovernment officials on Friday noon descended on the Navelim indoorstadium to take stock of the amenities, including sanitation madeavailable for the 400-odd stranded migrants housed at the complex.
Accompaniedby Margao Municipal Council Chairperson Pooja Naik and South districtpolice chief, SP Arvind Gawas, the team inquired with the civic chiefover the sanitation amenities made available at the site. The visitcomes against the backdrop of reports on social media of inadequatesanitation and other amenities at the indoor stadium.
Theteam also inquired with the migrants inquiring about their health andthe facilities provided by the authorities. One of the officialssought to know whether they would be willing to work for the civicbodies on the cleaning of drains and gutters on payment of wages.
